100?

[via]
If my calculations are correct, then I believe this to be my 100th blog post. To celebrate I am going to force you to read delight you with 100 things about myself!

...Just kidding. Just like, 33 things. I have been tagged by both blogs Shades of Shayes and A Quick Succession of Busy Nothings in this 'about me' type post where you're supposed to give facts and answer questions. Prepare to learn more about me than you probably ever wanted to know - hooray (don't worry not in a creepy way I'm not too much of an oversharer)!

So firstly here's 11 things about me:
  1. The concept of sleep kinda freaks me out (I'm not conscious and I don't know I'm not conscious - where am 'I' while I'm asleep?)
  2. I've just completed week 4 day 3 of running program couch-to-5K. I was very surprised at myself (but super happy) - I ran for way longer than I ever thought I could and did not pass out or have my knees fall off.
  3. The book I've read the most times is Pride and Prejudice
  4. I'm turning 27 this month - aargh!
  5. I have a foot phobia. Looking at feet is bad enough, but God forbid they try to touch me! However, I've actually desensitised to Husband's feet, but it has not generalised to other people. Oh also baby/toddler feet can touch me for some reason and I'm ok with it. Maybe because they're not like proper feet yet?
  6. The movie I have watched the most times is Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
  7. I had a pet canary called Archimedes. He was awesome.
  8. When I was little (like four) I used to go around telling people that I was Jon Bon Jovi. I still think he's cool.
  9. I like reading cook books, but don't like cooking all that much (can you blame me?!)
  10. I got whiplash/herniated a disc in my neck from violently sneezing. At the time when I told people what happened, their befuddled facial expressions were quite funny - unfortunately it hurt my neck to laugh!
  11. I'm worried one day someone will realise I'm not smart enough to be in Academia and get me booted out (apparently this is quite a normal feeling for PhD students/Academics, but it doesn't mean I don't still worry about it!)
Then I'm supposed to answer 11 questions as posed by the person who tagged me.

  1. Are you a Coke or Pepsi person? Why? Neither and both. Diet Coke and Pepsi Max. I usually get sick of one and then switch to the other for a bit.
  2. What is the craziest thing about you? Well I think lately, people have been a bit shocked that I got my lip pierced, I seem to be hearing "why'd you do that for!?" A LOT. Otherwise, perhaps that although I'm doing a PhD, I still plan to at least one more degree after this (clinical psych masters, and then when I'm old and retired a medieval history degree just for fun).
  3. Where did you grow up? Sydney, Australia
  4. Can you touch your toes? Flat palm it on the floor? Hold on, I'll check. Yep, easily. Hooray!
  5. If you could be an Olympic champion in any sport, which one would it be and why? Archery, I think. It doesn't get enough attention, but I think it's cool. Plus then I can pretend I'm in the middle ages.
  6. What is your favorite season? Autumn, as it's not freezing but not horribly hot like Summer.
  7. What is your dream job? Psychology Academic that also sees clients.
  8. What is your favorite TV show? It changes often, but Bones, NCIS, Supernatural, and Arrested Development are my answers today.
  9. If you could relive any memory, what memory would it be and why? Towards the end of our honeymoon, Husband and I were at Cardiff Castle, and to our surprise it started snowing! Husband had never seen snow (and I'd only seen it once on a school trip to Canberra) and we were both super excited. Plus we were at a castle! I love castles.
  10. If you could wake up tomorrow knowing any language in addition to your native tongue, which language would it be and why? Well Greek, since Husband is Greek! Otherwise, maybe Russian, since I really like the sound of it.
  11. Do you read the book or watch the movie first? It depends on how interesting it sounds to me. If I'm not super keen, I'll probably watch the movie since it'd probably take less time!

  1. What's your favourite everyone-I-know-must-watch-this movie? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - makes me cry every time but it's very clever and interesting.
  2. What's at the top of your "places I want to go" list? It changes very often. Husband and I were at a Spanish restaurant not long ago and it made me want to go to Spain. However the next trip I'm trying to plan is to the US.
  3. Where would you want to live if money was taken out of the equation? London. If money wasn't an issue I could fly home whenever I felt like it, but live in the place I've always wanted.
  4. What was the first CD you bought? (Don't be ashamed - mine was Aquarium by Aqua!) It was a single: Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio! It was the most popular song that year. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I can rap the whole song (I sound ridiculous of course though).
  5. What's your drink of choice? Sugarfree V (energy drink), or if you mean alcoholic, probably vodka lime and soda.
  6. If you had a time machine, where and when would be your first stop? England, middle ages for sure.
  7. Mac or PC? PC 4 life!
  8. You can go to any restaurant in the world for dinner. Where do you go? I actually wasn't sure about this one, so I googled: best restaurant in the world. Apparently a place called Noma, in Denmark was ranked #1 in 2010 and 2011. Never heard of it, but that would be my choice I guess!
  9. What's the best concert you've been to? 30 Seconds to Mars. I was looking forward to going, but wasn't super hyped about it (like I've been with other bands and then been a bit disappointed). It ended up being awesome. I dragged Husband along and he ended up loving them by the end of the night too.
  10. What's your favourite type of food? Savory: avocado. Sweet: rainbow icecream (not bubblegum flavour - ew. I'm pretty sure the one I love is just vanilla with food colouring!)
  11. Dogs or cats? Definitely dogs. Probably once every few weeks I ask Husband for a puppy! He nearly bought me one not that long ago, but I ended up being too sensible and saying no. We rent an apartment with a very specific 'no pets' clause! One day though...

Well there you have it. I hope I haven't overloaded you with so much information about me that you never want to read about me ever again :D

I'd like to thank the regular readers of my blog for sticking it out to #100, especially those of you that started from post #1 back in April 2011! Here's to 100 more, or some number of posts until I run out of things to say!

P.S. After writing this post, Hannah J. Holmes also tagged me! I answered her questions in her comments, so go over there to check out my answers - or just go over there anyway to see her lovely blog :)
P.P.S. In this thing you're also supposed to tag 11 other people. But considering all the tagging that's been going on lately I think most of the people I'd pick already have been! So if you feel so inclined you can just tell me some odd fact about yourself in the comments!

  1. I get weirded out by the concept of sleep too, especially since we also dream. BUT, I do love dreaming, and getting 8 hours of sleep :)

  2. Congrats on 100 posts! I will also be posting my 11 things shortly and don't plan to tag anyone either because most people have done it already or probably wouldn't do it.

  4. Congrats on 100! ;) A Medieval History degree when you're old and retired sounds great - I quite fancy doing that too! And I think it's awesome that your pet canary was called Archimedes :D

  6. Happy 100th post! I totally agree with your number 11, I have that feeling all the time, like maybe someone is just about to realise I sneaked into academia by accident... :) Although it must be a common feeling because my uni now runs a course on overcoming "imposter syndrome"!

  7. Just stumbled on your blog through 20 something bloggers, congrats on 100 posts! Love your blog (now following). I also beg my husband for a dog every few weeks but so far no luck. We aren't supposed to have any either. Evil landlord.

  10. I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Teefury.com had an awesome shirt on December 8th, but of course it hasn't been on sale since. The design is very cool: http://www.teefury.com/archive/1444/Meet_Me_in_Montauk/

Like you, sleep freaks me out. It's why I tend to be a night owl, which makes the mornings hurt. Knowing that I have to shut down for a night gets me wired more than a gallon of Mountain Dew.

By the way, thank you for the visits and keeping up with my page. I wasn't an active commenter over the last few weeks, but I'm working to catch up now! :)

  11. Not only is Jon Bon Jovi still cool; he still cute!!!

Wish I could say I loved "Bill and Ted," but my sister (who had a MAJOR crush on Keanu Reeves when we were younger) watched it A MILLION times and now, as a result, it has been catagorized in the "tramatic memories" department of my mind.

    Happy 100th!!!
