Lozzz123, Hazard Checker.

I've decided to adopt this title for myself following an embarrassing incident this past weekend. We went to the Sydney Royal Easter Show on Saturday, and I was able to demonstrate my hazard finding skillz by rolling (and subsequently spraining) my ankle on uneven ground. Yes, the same ankle from a few of weeks ago unfortunately. So after a few different security guards came to ask me if I was the person who sprained my ankle and if I needed first aid people to come (yes and yes), finally the first aid people actually came and I got my ankle bandaged up. Then I had to wait for safety people to come and question me, and secure the area. This also happened to be in an eating area, so a lot of people got an extra show with their lunch.

I did manage to hobble around for the rest of the day, and even won a prize on a crossbow game (see I told you I should have grown up in medieval times!). One of the highlights for me was the Silkie Chickens. They are just so funny looking I could watch (and laugh at) them for ages. Husband said 'no' to buying one however. Rude.

My ankle still hurts a little, but what hurts more is the chunk I took out of my hand when landing. It's pretty gross to look at, but also very fascinating to watch how the body heals itself. Here is a picture...

... just kidding.

Anyway, I got a follow up call, and for my excellent hazard detection ability (or more likely, so I don't sue anyone), I got two free tickets to the Easter Show next year. Huzzah!

Questions for you:
Have you ever received free stuff for being accident prone?
Any similarly embarrassing stories to share (to make me feel better)?

  1. Oh, you poor thing! That sounds horrible... I once went to the loo in an ad break and fell down the stairs because I was rushing so I didn't miss anything. And I pulled all the ligaments in my right ankle. That was four years ago, and it's still periodically twingy. So...yeah. That's an awkward story to tell if anyone asks why my ankle hurts!!

  2. Oh dear. Well if it makes you feel any better I didn't see the whole commotion and as you know I was there. SO that is at least one person. :)

But in all seriousness, I hope your ankle is feeling better. That is horrible and one of my worst nightmares everytime I pull out a pair of heels to wear.

I think your husband should buy you one of those chickens just to make you feel better. :D

P.S - I saw the black fluffy ones with the white mohawks last year. They made me happy too.

    1. Hahah my ankles are one of the reasons I rarely wear heels! And the mohawk chickens are awesome too!

  3. Lozz, Lozz, Lozz... What are we going to do with you? I'm glad you're okay!

If it makes you feel any better, my boyfriend had to take me to the campus health center a few weeks ago because I hit my ankle off of my bedpost and, well, said a few choice words. Haha!

  4. Welcome to my life. I've twisted and sprained more things than I can count. In fact, I somehow injured myself every single semester in college except my first. I've even sprained my foot. Not my ankle, my FOOT. How do you even do that?

Anyway. An awkward (sort of) injured-in-public story to make you feel better.

I am lactose intolerant. I always have been. I used to legit be allergic (like...broke out in hives allergic), but then it dissipated for a while and I could have certain dairy products in limited quantities. During the summer of 2005, I went on a DC trip with my online school and we stopped by Starbucks before we went to the main gathering area to start the day.

Our morning started with a walking tour of the White House. At Starbucks that morning, I had gotten a hot chocolate with regular milk. I had gotten the same thing the day before and was perfectly fine. But apparently my lactose intolerance decided to just flare up on the second go-round because all of sudden I got this INTENSE stomach pain (think like the worst cramps without actually making you want to puke). Except I got this intense stomach pain AT THE WHITE HOUSE.

The best way to alleviate said pain is to curl up in a ball. And so I did so. On the ground. Outside the White House. So while my guy friends were all standing around debating whether or not I was dying and if I was dying if they'd be able to get me to the hospital in time, a Secret Service guy walked up and said, "Ma'am, are you alright?" I said I was fine. He said, "Are you sure? Because if you need help, we have several doctors downstairs and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to check you out." I thanked him again, but declined.

So I feel your pain, lady. I feel your pain.

    1. Sarah, this post has earned you two awards: longest comment I've ever received, and most awkward place for lactose intolerance - hooray!

(seriously though that would have sucked, but thanks for sharing hehehe)

    1. I know hey! I'm not sure I would have bothered to go to the show 2 years in a row, but free tickets make it a bit more worthwhile!

  6. Great, thank you for that mini lecture on psychology that was completely unrelated to my post. It doesn't make me suspect you of being a spammer at all.

  7. Gahhh...know exactly how you feel. Along with falling I have a habit of wrapping myself around poles (and not making any tips..damn!). Perpetual klutz!
That's pretty sweet you scored tickets out of it though! I'll have to make sure to become injured in more convenient places so as to benifit the poor souls with me lol.

  8. I'm glad you're okay and didn't crack your head open or anything! I never win or score anything!!! I fall over all the time, and I usually walk into things - posts especially! Hope you recover quickly and painlessly...

  9. I'm pretty sure this is a marketable skill. Painful, but totally a resume type of skill.

"If you have a hazard, I will find it!"

    I'd hire you.
