Something I was not expecting to think today:

"I should go for a run!"

So I did. If you know me at all, you'll see why this is surprising. I am in no way a sporty person. I have been in the 'contemplation stage' for a couple of months though about running. I even installed the couch-to-5K app on my phone, and it's been sitting there unused for those months. It's also on my 30 things to do before 30 list to start and complete this programme. At least I can now say I've made a start, and completed day one:

Well let me tell you - I really didn't go very well. Lots of walking during the running phases occured. Also I saw someone chucking out a couch on the side of the road and was very tempted to give up and have a nap on it (a bit ironic considering the name of the running programme)! My other problem is other people - I went to the park and saw lots of skateboarders and didn't want to run near them in case they laughed at me. Hopefully I can get over that at some point.

However, I can say overall I liked it, and I do aim to try again.

Do you run? Are you as terrible as I am (Please say YES)?!

  2. Pft, I don't even exercise, unless you count walking around my campus (it is on a hill). I commend your courage & motivation. You COULD run early in the morning when there is no-one around, except other runners of course. Hmmm, after dark perhaps ... ?

  3. *HIGH 5*
I also went for a run today :).
Don't worry about other people, if they laugh at you just laugh back.

  4. that's why I go running either early morning or night time. It's well lit where I live so I'm not afraid of getting mugged, and there's no-one else around other than other runners who can't laugh cause they look equally as stupid.

  5. I always "start" running, and think it's going to become a thing for me, and it never does. I really just don't like it. But I've been wanting to improve enough to do a 5K too. Maybe we can hold each other accountable? ;)

  6. Hi Lauren,
I'm going to attempt Week 2, Day 3 today of C25k and I look very silly running! I do the program at the gym on the treadmill and although I never thought I'd say it, I like running! I tried to start it outdoors but it wasn't working well for me - don't know why!
    Keep up the great work!!

  7. This is very impressive. This is what I should do but it is so hard when my bed is so comfy in the mornings. :D

  8. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I have a love hate relationship with running. I hate actually doing it, but once I am done, I love it. I think you can grow to love it to. Surprisingly enough it makes me feel relaxed, happy, and full of new ideas and inspiration for writing, when the torture is over that is :) Good luck!
